short story 3

On Monday morning, I joined Hannah at her apartment and we walked into school together. Standing next to the Thurston Avenue bridge was a girl holding a sign that read “Free Hugs”. Ever curious about such things, I asked her what the free hugs were for. “It’s the day before September 11,” she replied, “so they’re a sign of hope.” Hannah and I both accepted hugs before walking on. I don’t know how many people the girl (and perhaps others) were able to share hugs with for this occasion, but I thought I’d spread the message around at least.
